UNFOLDING BANGKOK
Bangkok is poised to welcome visitors again into the vivid vibe of UNFOLDING BANGKOK, from November 2022 - September 2023, a brand-new travel experience that you may have never had before.
It is evident that the COVID-19 epidemic has had a significant impact on Thai tourism, ranging from measures to close the country to travel restrictions in several countries. Bangkok is one of the cities impacted, as this capital city is one of the world's most popular tourist destinations.
Now that the situation has been relaxed, the government has made the country ready for local and international tourists to visit and explore Thailand again. The Cabinet approved the guidelines for promoting tourism after relaxing the measures for tourists entering the kingdom according to the Cabinet’s resolution on 24 May 2022, proposed by the Office of the National Economics and Social Development Council, as the secretary of the Committee for the Administration of the Economic Impact Due to the Outbreak of the Communicable Disease Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). The guidelines implemented include the extension of an additional tourism year (2022-2023) and the assignment to the Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) or CEA, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Tourism Authority of Thailand, and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) in jointly organizing a pilot activity in Bangkok, “UNFOLDING BANGKOK.” The event will be arranged under the 3 main themes: Hidden Temple, a secret temple tour; Living Old Building, a retrospective of historical buildings; and Greeting Benjakitti, a visit to the forest park in the middle of the city.
UNFOLDING BANGKOK is set to happen between November 2022 - September 2023. The event is expected to showcase the alternative and creative dimension of Thailand and Thai culture to the attendance of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference in Bangkok and stimulate the tourism sector. UNFOLDING BANGKOK consists of activities in various districts throughout Bangkok to give both domestic and foreign tourists new experiences of traveling in Bangkok where they can visit and explore the sites ranging from the urban forest in the midst of Bangkok to the historical buildings and temples, which are all presented in a contemporary style.
